I am an academic, writer, and commentator who has worked towards justice for the last 20 years. You might say I like to think of myself as an academic activist. I have worked for universities, civil society, and governments, in both Switzerland and the UK, and I am currently enjoying my role as Professor of Peace and Justice in the Politics and International Studies Department of the University of Warwick. I am an extrovert, getting energy from my time with friends, family, neighbours or someone I happen to be standing next to in a line and strike up a conversation with. I like to start my day with a cup of tea, a dog walk, and listening to a podcast. I like to end my day with a good book. In between I seek small joys in my colourful pens and chaotic desk, and I seek big joys in the glass of wine I share with my husband as we chat about our days and the thousandth time my children ask me to read them a bedtime story. I want to read more, travel more, eat more. I live to connect. I love to learn. 

 

For me, justice is about connections. It is about how we live together in fairness, equity, and dialogue. Justpolitics is a way of sharing my ideas and inviting you into conversation with me.
